Arent&Pyke

Arent&Pyke is a Sydney-based design practice, formed by Juliette Arent and Sarah-Jane Pyke, encompassing interior architecture and design with a unique focus on the decorative arts. Their renovated home in Annandale turned out to be an appropriate metaphor for what was an unusually organic project. The space was “quite grey, quite hard” and so there were a lot of conversations about lighting. They wanted to bring softness and ambient glow into the spaces, introducing Noguchi light sculptures and warm colors.

ANNACARIN DESIGN STUDIO

Anna-Carin McNamara is a Swedish-born interior designer with a Master’s degree in Interior Design from the Royal College of Art in London. She is the founder and director of ANNA CARIN DESIGN STUDIO, a Sydney-based interior design studio that specializes in high-end residential Scandinavian interiors. A home for music aficionados, this Surry Hills terrace plays to its own beat. Merging Scandinavian design with the flamboyant, guided by the owner’s collection of Australian art and love of English rock.

DAVID HICKS

DAVID HICKS was born in Australia, but spent most of his childhood in Malaysia. On his return home, he pursued his lifelong passion for interior design. Hicks established the eponymous David hicks design studio in 2000, which has grown and evolved to become Australia’s premier brand for luxury-oriented interior and building design. In this apartment the interior combines David Hicks custom furniture pieces and statement lighting, restoring and reinvigorating the space, transforming it into a contemporary and serene home.

Whilst each commission is individual, the studio adopts consistent principles across all of its projects; exploring the fundamentals of environment, sustainability, space, proportion, light, and materials.

Renato D’ettorres Architecture

Renato’s architecture draws inspiration from past masters and civilizations, attempting to represent the present with a desire to leave enduring buildings for the future. Born in Italy, moved to Australia with his family in the 1960’s, studied architecture at the University of Technology, Sydney. Italianate House, Surry Hills: This project involved the restoration and modification of a heritage-listed three-story Italianate-style c1890’s terrace house and 1860’s sandstone stable in inner Sydney.  The concept was to translate the 1990’s office fit-out into a modern-day residence preserving the historic style of the building while inserting a brave and very contemporary atmosphere inside.

Lucy Marczyk

Lucy Marczyk is an Interior designer and Creative Director, based in Sydney. Her goal is to bring happiness to people through good design. In this project, a large-scale, pale grey porcelain tile formed the inspiration behind the masculine and moody tonal palette. While the colors remain reserved, the curated selection of luxe furniture, artwork and curios throughout the home adds personality and showcases a modern elegance steeped in both texture and detail.

Smart Design Studio

At Smart Design Studio the architecture is inspired by pure Modernism but they believe not that “form follows function” so much as “form has a function. The interiors at this ‘Alexander’ Barangaroo were inspired by the streamlined curves and beautiful finishing of classic timber yachts. The smooth forms have been offset by matte timbers and rough tiles, resonating with the raw and unpolished history of the old dockyards.

Richards Stanisich

Richard Stanisich intention is simple: they want to create spaces that make you feel something. The harbourside location of this apartment combined with the client’s artistic background led to an artisanal approach—a combination of aged brass, natural timbers, and subtle pastel hues create a whimsical, yet tranquil interior. Key pieces of art from the client’s collection offer inspiration for the furniture and lighting throughout the living spaces.

Tommark Henry

Based in Darlinghurst, Sydney, the dynamic studio is increasingly active in hospitality, retail, workspace and residential projects. The core of this house, including the kitchen, living, and dining space has been designed as the heart of the home, featuring white painted timber-lined ceilings with triangular structural beams that reference the strong, clean lines of modernist design.

Studio Tate is an interior architecture practice of designers and thinkers, committed to intelligent and responsible design in projects that reflect the way we LIVE, WORK and PLAY Tasked with opening up the existing home at Malvern Residence I, Studio Tate sought to create a seamless flow between old and new. Generous living spaces were designed with a neutral palette and enlivened by bold furniture pieces and color.⁠⠀

Flack Studio

Flack Studio is a multi-disciplinary practice of designers and architects committed to delivering supremely elegant contemporary interiors.  Set within three acres of native bushland, this low-lying single-story house has been given a new streamlined allure with walls composed of concrete panels, a floor of poured aggregate polished to a high sheen and exposed robust I-beams. Mid-century furniture classics are offset by hard-edged office storage systems while the occasionally post-modern piece adds just the right touch of quirk.

SJB Interiors

SJB Interiors brings the aspirations of the clients for interiors that might be required to fulfill a range of different qualities and characteristics: bold, stylish, exciting, imaginative, impressive, dramatic, energizing, efficient, comfortable, cocooning and serene. The Royce Hotel: The presidential suite is focused on entertaining or as a bridal suite with its bar area, the expanse of banquette seating, bespoke chandelier, and freestanding unit separating the living from the bedroom area. The classic rooms with high ceilings are generous in scale and incorporate many period details, including cornices and paneling. The tower rooms, which will be housed in an adjoining new building, will also reference the original building. 

Marco Meneguzzi

Meneguzzi’s approach to interior design is personal, intuitive, and considered. He dedicates time and resources to learning how his clients live — and what they want to achieve — to identify how best to transform their house into a home, all while considering the architectural identity of a house and always creating spaces that he would love to reside in himself. Located in Sydney’s affluent suburb of Bellevue Hill, this once dark, dreary, and the pokey apartment was transformed into a bright and inviting space for a young professional family.
