The Academy Museum Set to Open to the World Come April 2021<\/strong><\/em><\/span> \u21d2 The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures was initially set to open its doors to the public later this year, however, to the fast-spreading of COVID-19, its opening date has once again been postponed.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This ambitious architecture project will feature a unique aesthetic that highlights a round dome, the museum will be regarded as the \u201cworld\u2019s premier film institution\u201d<\/em> and Pritzker Prize-winning architect, Renzo Piano is overseeing the construction and completion of this cultural project. In its essence, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures was created to highlight the power of films as well as give a detailed look at the process that goes behind making a film. The building is almost completed and it will have four floors, all of which will be brim with one-of-the-kind installations and exhibitions.<\/p>\n

The Los Angeles architecture firms, Studio Pali Fekete Architects and Gensler as well as designers Rick Carter and Gallagher & Associates are collaborating with Renzo Piano to create this majestic cinema museum.<\/p>\n

Throughout the museum\u2019s many galleries, visitors will be able to experience different stories and the history of cinema in a more personal manner. This multi-floor exhibition will allow the audience to explore narrative movies, documentaries, and animation as well as all aspects of the arts and sciences of moviemaking.<\/p>\n

Some of these galleries will have a more focused theme, for example, in the Rolex gallery, guests will be greeted to some of the most iconic characters in history, from ET to R2D2. There will also be an oscar-oriented gallery as well as others dedicated to The Matrix, the history of Black Cinema during 1898-1971, and the work of legendary filmmaker, Hayao Miyazaki, just to name a few.<\/p>\n

As previously mentioned, the opening of the museum will be delayed to Spring 2021 due to the devastating effect COVID-19 has had around the world. The annual Oscars ceremony has also been postponed and it will occur around the same time as the opening. The Museum\u2019s director, Bill Kramer states that \u201cThankfully, with COVID-19 safety protocols in place, exhibitions continue to be installed. We look forward to April 2021 when Los Angeles and the world will be able to join together as the Academy celebrates the Oscars and the opening of its long-dreamed-of museum.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
